The best pizza! Nothing compares to the Flying Tomato!

I am a Chicagoan through and through. I know my pizza and I do not impress easily. With that disclaimer out of the way, I would like to freely shout out to the world that Wig and Pen has one of the best pizza's I have ever eaten in my life! My husband and I ordered the Flying Tomato with ground beef, mushrooms, onions and jalapenos. IT WAS AMAZINGLY DELICIOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The cheese was real cheese and generously piled on. It was fresh and cream...nothing imitation about it. We also ordered the cheese fries. I was expected gooey, velveeta-esq cheese on fries. NOPE! What appeared in front of us was a bit of heaven. The fries were coated in melted cheese that had been placed under the broiler. The fries were very crispy and the cheese baked to perfection. The combination was ridiculously perfect. I am still dreaming about those fries 2 days later :). The only thing that kept Wig and Pen from earning the full 5 stars was the fact that the service was sub-par. It took forever for our fries to come out, no one really checked on how we were doing and we would have liked to have our drinks freshened long before someone took the time to notice our glasses were empty. I am sure I will be a frequent patron of W&P in the future because the food was so good that I am willing to overlook the service...for now.

After a HUGE disappointment at Tailgators, we came to The Wig. Immediately where were greeted and asked where we should sit. The girl that had seated us, immediately took our drink order and it was delivered promptly. AWESOME. Off to a great start!! We then asked our waitress which appetizer would be best, and she replied that the bruschetta was probably the best option for us... And she was right! Awesome! We decided to split a small flying tomato pizza, which is always awesome. The reason why they are getting knocked one star, is due to the fact that she did not serve the first piece to us (it's petty but they usually do) and the fact that she didn't ask if we wanted another drink or anything, before bringing the bill. 9 times out of 10 this doesn't happen. I love this place and will be back! Btw, the grinder is fricking amazing!!!!

Why have I not given this place its due yet? I'm too busy enjoying the pizza! I'm a huge fan of the Flying Tomato Twickenham (sp?). Every pie I've had there though... Delicious. I love the crust thick or thin. I also love the fried button mushrooms. The service has always been acceptable if not always excellent. The only shortcoming, for which I deduct the sixth star, is how small the joint is. Still I'd rather wait in the rain or snow to eat here than any other pizza house in a hundred mile radius.

Accommodated a party of 25....great wait staff and excellent food. The lasagna looked fantastic. Fish and Chips crisp batter and served hot....pizzas look great, especially the deep dish...

Stopped by for a pizza. Very authentic Chicago pie. Not the best I've ever had, but probably the best outside of Chicago so far. The decor is english pub style and is very clean. Wait staff was very friendly and attentive. Prices are a little high...had to pay for every topping individually. If you're close to the Coralville mall and want a good pie, this is worth a try.

I haven't had pizza this drop-dead delicious in... ever. Yep, dramatic but holy hannah this one's worth it! If you like deep dish (if you don't, how dare you), if you like hearty pizzas (umm hello it's a pizza, let's bulk up for winter together), and if you like ample sauce (because this is pizza we're talking about, not cheesy bread)... then this is it. This is your pizza. I ordered the Chicago style stuffed pizza for takeout and got there before the pizza was ready. Despite being a jam-packed house and the fact that there was nowhere for me to stand but in the way, the staff were all very friendly and welcoming. Speaking of the jam-packed house, the atmosphere had that of an old Irish pub - dark, comfortable, no-fuss.

This is knife and fork, cheesy goodness pizza! We ordered flying tomato crust style, which led to thick, topping filled slices. The crust was crispy and flaky-almost pastry like-different from any other pizza I've had but definitely yummy. Be prepared to wait on a Friday night! The waitresses were hustling but it still took too long to get our drinks. Regardless, the pizza was great and will be back to try something new!

I have waited a YEAR to eat here and the pizza is as delicious and delectable as last year! How do we get a Wig and Pen in Southern CA? This is by far the best pizza we've ever had and it's not like we don't try pizza all the time all over the place! We have leftovers (woohoo!) which means a late night snack, possibly breakfast and maybe some left before the plane ride home! We ordered a small Chicago style and a small thin crust-it doesn't matter what toppings you choose or whether it's one of their specialties...they're all awesome!

Not a bad place. We walked over kind of late from the hotel. The bartender was quiet but got everything we needed and did a great job. The bar itself was stinky and smelled like vomit. A guy from the kitchen came out (we thought it was the owner) and mentioned to other bar patrons that he had "killed the last stray cat that was out back" as he poured some cream into a saucer dish to bring outside haha! It was comical and made for a good laugh.

Have not had anything here i don't like. Love the onion rings and the flying tomato pizza! I just recommend ordering it well down to get the good brown carmelization on the cheese =) Iowans don't seem to cook their pizzas long enough =)

This place was quite the discovery. Driving by on route 6 I saw what looked like a very old establishment that, with the black paint all over just stands out against everything else. The first impression is that of ye olde Irish pub on a moor somewhere in the wilderness of Scotland. Inside, it is reminiscent of a cozy bar with the hustle and bustle of patrons and servers running helter- skelter. They have a Full bar and they offer their pizzas in 3 very different styles, I opted for the Chicago style Union Jack (pepperoni, mushrooms, cheese...mmmmmm) All in all a good bar to visit if you're ever in coralville, with a very chilled out vibe, good service and very very good pizzas. 10/10 would visit again. I recommend.

Great pizza. We had the thin crust, which was excellent. Plenty of sauce and cheese. Crust was just right. Deep dish looked real good too, but didn't want to wait the extra time required to cook. Salad was fresh and almost falling off the plate. We will be back...

Everyone kept telling us to go to Wigan pan and try the flying tomato Brothers pizza. We did and they were right it was fantastic. Everything about the pizza was great: The sauce, cheese, the taste. We look forward to going back.

We were visiting for a few days and wanted to check out something local. I choose this place based on the Yelp reviews. I guess I had high expectations and was let down a little. They sat us right by the kitchen on a busy night, so that may have contributed to it being fairly annoying. Our server was really busy, so wasn't very personable. That's understandable, I've been in her shoes. The main problem was that she didn't let us know what to expect when we ordered a pizza. It took a lot longer than we thought it would and it was pretty late at night already. The manager stopped over to ask how we were and we basically said "hungry". He was very nice and let us know standard timeframes. It was 35 min to make our pizza (which seemed like a long time). We were cool with that, no biggie. The manager brought the pizza and immediately said, "this is on us because we messed up the order" it wasn't a big deal, they just added an ingredient that we asked to leave off. That was very courteous - some places wouldn't offer much more than an 'ooops, sorry'. We offered to pay for it still, but he insisted. The pizza was pretty good. Not amazing, but I was happy to try something new.

I have to say to the bad reviews on here, you deserve a bad review for not ordering pizza. Do you go to Picasso and ask for an oil change? Do you go to the movies and expect to read a book? No. You order pizza! Copied from my other wig and pen review. We love this place. The name throws you off, but you stop caring when you taste, No, Smell the Chicago style pizza. You wait forever, but it's worth it! I tried to take my boyfriend to Giadanos in Chicago, and he complained that wig and pen was better....he's right.

Best pizza in Iowa and they have Boddingtons in the can!! One try here and you will be a fan.

After being in Iowa City for a year and driving past this place I finally decided to check it out. After reading some of the reviews I was pretty excited. The place itself is pretty decent inside with an English pub vibe to it. It was a sunday at 12 so fairly busy but not packed. I ordered a 12" thin crust with canadian bacon and pinapple. After sitting for a really long time I watched as other patrons finished and left. My mother finally asked one of the waitresses if it would be much longer. The waitress had a bit of attitude and said "it hasn't been that long, they have to roll out the dough and cook it." Umm ok.... So it finally came out and I have to say I was not in the least bit impressed. The crust was bland and almost frozen pizza like and the toppings werent anything special either. I'm not saying it was really bad, just nothing to write home about. Heck, I've MADE better pizza myself at home. Maybe I should have ordered a different style? I don't know, but based on what I had and the experience, I'll go elsewhere. Maybe Casey's?

LOUD but good! We came to town for Family Weekend at the U of Iowa. Arriving late, we just wanted to grab a quick dinner. Glad we checked Yelp and got confirmation from the front desk at the Homewood Suites. Everyone was correct, the Flying Tomato was awesome. Living in the pizza-ly-challenged STL, we are happy to get a great tasting pie. We wil be back!

A cute place on the inside....very pubby. My husband and I both ordered pork tenderloin sandwiches. They were not good. My husband took the meat out and ate the roll and veggies. I left mine. We won't be back.

Pizza and wings were awesome, pretty good for breaded wings. The pizza comes in deep dish, thin crust or flying tomato, which is a in the middle style of the two. I am a big fan of the pizza, very cheesy, sauce has a great taste, crust is done right. All in all a great pie.

Skip the sandwiches; go for the pizza. This restaurant is solid for the area. The last two times I've been to the Wig and Pen I tried sandwiches. A while back I tried the Italian Sausage. It said it would come with sweet peppers and I guess technically, it did. It came with tiny bits of unroasted red peppers. Just not what I expected given my experiences in Chicago. Last time I had the turkey club. It was fine as clubs go. I don't often order them. What stood out for me were the fries. They were lightly battered and perfectly seasoned. But if I'm going to eat fries I might as well have pizza. And, as most reviewers have already pointed out, the WnP's Flying Tomato is awesome. Being from Chicago you might think I am a deep-dish person but actually I'm not. My favorite Chicago pizza was the thin crust from My Pi. Next time someone wants to order deep dish with me I'll update my review. Anyway the last time I was there, we sat outside. One customer in our area was smoking, which was very annoying. It felt like it took forever for our food to come out but one person did order a 10" pizza. In the beginning it felt like our server was hard to come by but after the food came out she was more attentive.

This place is a diamond in the rough. It looked all kinds of sketchy from the outside but when we went in and ate it was beyond a pleasant experience for us. Their pizzas are made to order and made with excellent fresh ingredients. The Reuben sandwich here is among the best I've had in my life time. Great beers on tap and even greater beers in the bottles. The place is PACKED for lunches Mon-Fri so get there early or after the lunch rush has died down. My family will be going back here again.

The pizza is really good but not the best I have ever had by any means. The bar is really small and always feels super crowded. It's a great place to go with yourself or one person but anymore than that just forget it. The staff seems nice. Also a good place to stop before an Iowa basketball game for a drink because its in walking distance from Carver Hawkeye Arena.

Pretty sweet place--diggin' the decor and the server! If I lived in Iowa, I'd probably be hitting this place up quite often. Came in on a lazy Sunday with sister and her beau because I been dying for pizza the way it was intended to be made: THICK. It's been too long since I've had Chicago-style pizza--Charlotte doesn't have a single location. While not entirely authentic, I guess it's pretty close so no real complaints about it. Washed it down with a cold bottle of suds from Italy. Service was aiite, nothing special. But I learned to appreciate the good-looking girls of Iowa... the whole farmer's daughter appeal. What's up with the green lawn chairs in the dining area. It doesn't really make sense other than it's really cheap. dmo out.

First time being at Wig & Pen. Great pizza, good atmosphere. Service was a little slow, but it was Mother's Day so it was fairly busy. Kinda strange having like 4 different waitresses come to our booth. Will be going back again for sure!

This place is a weird mashup of British pageantry, cheese-based Chicago-Italian-American food, and a beer and liquor selection from any average to middling neighbourhood bar in the country. There's a rather sad looking old red phone box outside, but at least it doesn't smell as though someone recently peed in it, like the authentic 20th century British ones. Once you're inside, you might be a bit disappointed to discover that it's not really a British pub at all. Aside from the TGI Fridays-style wall clutter and a couple of pretty poor attempts at "classic" English pub dishes (sorry, but don't worry, because classic English pub food is not good in England either), it mostly looks like any other older neighbourhood bar in the Midwest. The beer selection is oriented toward light American lager and bad European lager, with the obligatory Guinness and two or three of Britain's very blandest exports on offer as well. They've had a few decent bottles of whisky over the years though, so fair enough. I can't rate the pizza because it's a doughy style that I've never liked, but it's certainly popular. These other reviewers seem to like it, don't they? The service is fine. It's located close to the UI stadiums, and it's a focal point for Hawkeye gameday festivities. In these regards, the Wig & Pen is probably a better than average experience. For me, it's not worth the bother, so it's three stars only.

This is the Yang to George's Buffet's Yang. GOP Elephant pub with damn good pizza. Get the flying tomato. Anything else isn't even close to this pizza. Didn't care for the thin crust here. FLYING TOMATO IS THE WAY TO GO.

There's a reason this place won Best Pizza in Iowa. But there's much more to write home about then their delicious pies. Wigatoni, anyone? Get it spicy, you'll thank me later. Local establishment and a great place to watch Hawkeye games or to celebrate at afterwards.

  • Mark J.

As a deep dish pizza fan I haven't found anything better in IC. Sam's will do on a budget but this place is it. People may complain about price but I think that's cause they're used to eating half a pizza in a sitting. One, maybe two slices should do me. SHARE! TAKE IT HOME! It's 4-6 MEALS! There are certainly weak parts to the menu (I personally don't quite get these type of onion rings - do I eat them with a spoon? They seem more a topping), but they've done their pizza well. My personal vote for best in IC.

Since coming to Iowa City for school in the early 90's, I've never had anything at Wig and Pen besides cold beverages and their pizza. That disclaimer out of the way - I can say with certainty that the Wig has my favorite pizza in Iowa City. I'm a simple man with simple pleasures and always order the thin crust with pepperoni and sausage. Not really much else to say besides...well...it's simply the best. The wait staff is typically very good and the system they have in place where all waitresses can come to your table and help usually means your glass / pitcher is rarely empty if you don't want it to be. They did a good job restoring the English pub ambiance post-flood and it remains a great place pre / post basketball games, for lunch, after work, for dinner, you name it. If I'm hungry for pizza, this is where I go.

  • Matt B.

Best non-thin crust pizza in the area, in my opinion. The Flying Tomato -style is my favorite, but the deep dish is great too. The flying tomato has more cheese on it than any pizza I've ever had anywhere - and the crust is nice and buttery. I usually get Canadian Bacon, because they use big, thick slices of it which is different than most places. The greek style pizza and traditional combo is good too. Only non-pizza I've had on the menu is the wigatoni, which is their version of a baked ziti. Super cheesy as well!

    (5)
  • Rene T.

Best deep dish in the area by far. My husband from Chicago approved. The flying tomato is the way to go. Usually pretty busy, very difficult to get a table during football season. I'm unable to comment on the menu aside from the pizza, but as a pizza pub, I'm going with a 5. Friendly staff, good service, reasonable prices, and delicious pizza.

I work in Iowa City a lot and the crew like to go to the Wig & Pen. The atmosphere is that of an English pub. The owner knows us all and is very engaging. I love the Mini Wigatoni which is a baked rigatoni dish. The pizzas are good and the wings with the mango chili sauce are great. The wait staff leaves something to be desired. Great place to go for before games at Iowa.

The pizza is the way to go. every thing else is bar good. so only so so, but pizza is out of this world good ! love how they have a person who walks around filling soda during busy times my glass is always half full!

  • Shannon M.

It doesn't matter whether you like the thick or thin crust- they have them both! My favorite is the flying tomato- add sausage. The tomato on top is not only visually appealing, but also tastes good and adds a little extra texture (which combined with the crispy crust, is the perfect combination). I've also been impressed with their wings. They don't always have the mango chili sauce, but when they do- get it! Otherwise, I like to dip mine in tabasco. They are crispy and big with lots of meat and no breading. Just how I like my wings. Decent beer selection, unique ambiance. I love the Wig!

Just moved to Iowa City from Texas. Heard that the pizza was exceptional. Ordered the Union Jack in the Flying Tomato style - to go. Just exceptional. It was packaged smartly as well on a round thick base stock as well as a thick to go box. Ten minutes later, no seepage through the box, so my car stayed pizza juice free - but the aroma was compelling. About an hour after picking up, the kind man that took my order called to make sure it was to my liking. Later this week, it'll be dine in. Well done lads and ladies, well done!

Went to try this place with the peeps at work. I will give it 2 stars for the pizza. I was told to try the flying tomato, but honestly, what is so good about a buttered crust pizza with slices of tomato on cheese? I think this is the reason why we all have "junk in the trunk". Now, if the buttered crust taste good, I'll eat it and take all the name calling people will throw at me, but it doesn't... so now, not only am I still hunting for something good... I've got the junk stored up! So, the food is a 2 star, why the extra star for the place? Well, if you look around the place.. they've sure got good eye candy. I mean, the servers are cute and hot... I think that was their plan... cute slim servers showing you the fat-assed plate of pie you're about to consume would make you more attractive to them. Well, something worked... my eyes wanted more, but my body said no! I'd go back only if my work peeps go back, but I'd just get the drinks, stare at the servers and masticate on the could have beens...

Great place for pizza, if you LOVE cheese. if not, try something else. The toppings for a pizza with 6 various meat and vegetables topping comes out to be a heavy dose of cheese and not much else. Friendly service though. Other foods are probably tasty.

  • Rachel C.

Not sure if I should give this place 5 stars for food or 5 stars for popularity. It is great on both counts. Really scrumptuous pizza. I guess that's why so many folks are here. Since IC is a relatively small place, you are liable to see friends here every time you come in. Service has always been good, although during their real busy times, it can be a bit slow . . . but that's understandable. They really are working as hard as they can. Just keep my beer mug filled and I can wait. Parking is a nightmare. But the pizza more than makes up for it. Better off parking a couple blocks away and walking, especially if you want to get your car out sometime tonight. Very relaxed friendly place to spend a Friday night, or a Saturday night, or a Wednesday night, or a ***** Actually I wish they served cold pizza and then I'd be here for breakfast. I want oj with mine please.

Over the last 5 years I have not been able to force myself to try anything other than the deep dish whatever ~ until my husband pulled a dirty trick and said he was ordering Falbo's ~ and then had *gasp* a T H I N crust Wig & Pen sausage and pepperoni on order. Not sure what his excuse was at the time ~ I was much to upset about my broken Falbo's promise. God I love an awesome crustity-crust... ALTHOUGH ~ it was the most A M A Z I N G thin crust. Forget about it Cali pizza kitchen, you are not getting any more of my dieting dollars for your cardboard and veggies. The Wig is in my top 5 pizza LUV. If you live in town the Wig is a right of passage along with the Black Angel. So many wonderful institutions in this teeny-tiny town. Iowa City has great pizza and the tie is between W&P, Falbo's, Sam's, Pagliai's, and Pizza on Dubuque. Thank you Iowa City and you too PIZZA! X O X O

My dad used to run a pizza restaurant in NE Pennsylvania. For those who have ever tried 'Old Forge style' pizza, you know that there is no pizza quite like it. Although I haven't lived in that area for over 15 years, I still need to get my pizza fix wherever I'm at. I've tried pizza in various cities around the country- Chicago, NYC, Boston, Los Angeles, Phoenix , Honolulu, and now Iowa City.... Although nothing will ever replace the pizza of my childhood, Wig and Pen has done a phenomenol job of coming close. Your Chicago style pizza is so saucy and yummy. Wash it down with a cold beer and enjoy!

  • Karrey S.

I have not dined at W&P in several years, although from what I remember, the food was pretty good and the service was iffy, at best. My reason for no longer patronizing the establishment is because I went there on a Friday night with a somewhat large group after work. We were not a rowdy group by any stretch of the imagination, and had planned on doing a longer, full dinner, complete with several appetizers, drinks, and entrees for everyone. After our appetizers seemed to be wrapping up, someone who was either the owner or the manager came to our table and asked us to leave because there were people waiting to be seated. This is unacceptable, as I believe we had just as much a right to spend our money and eat there as the people waiting by the door. I haven't been back.

Worst burger I've ever had. EVER. Service spotty at best.

  • J-Money M.

The pizza is solid, nothing to write home about but what it differentiates itself from other pizza places is the crazy-man prices they charge for a pizza! IMO I can get a $10 pizza at Costco that tastes on par with a $20 pie at Wig and Pen. They definitely market themselves well for a pricey pizza pub.

  • William T.

I was introduced to Wig and Pen by my wife. She was in the midst of a craving for a Flying Tomato Pizza. To this day The Thin crust Flying Tomato with extra cheese is the standard order. They have all sorts of delectable though from a generous serving of onion rings as an appetiser, to several types of baked pastas. Parking can be a challenge, and Game Days are pretty much impossible to get in. Bring your appetite and you won't be disappointed.

Fantastic Chicago style pizza. Best in Iowa city!

  • Iowa H.

Wig and Pen has some of the best pizza in the country, let alone Iowa. The Wig and Pen East is set to re-open this weekend after being completely ravaged by the floods of 2008. If you haven't been here before, GO! Its a Hawkeye hangout, too.

    (5)
  • Al N.

Really? I'm the first? I'll simply say that this is about as good a pizza as you'll find in IC. I'm a fan of the Flying Tomato. Good stuff. The shuttle to Carver is a plus on those January nights where walking to the game might be a deadly endeavor. (As if watching Alford bball hadn't been enough of a health risk.)

    (4)
  • Chad Z.

Deep Chicago style with a chunky tomato sauch on top. It's a real pizza pie. If you like Tomaso's or Zoey's in Cedar Rapids, then you'll like Wig and pen.

    (4)
  • Megan Z.

Yum! I have only been here once, and had the wigatoni (it was one of those names that is kind of embarrassing to order...). It was sooo tasty! Yum. I had the lunch portion. It was nice and bubbly and super hearty. The service was good, place was clean.

    (4)
  • SJ F.

The Wigatoni is Wig-a-licious. Yes, I did just say wig-a-licious. I assure you, I feel just as dirty as you do for it. The service is decent, the food is excellent and plentiful. The place is even relatively clean. It's a great bar after hours too. Just don't bother trying to head in there during peak time, though. The parking gets ridiculously packed, and finding a seat can be a long wait. Also, what's with the plastic lawn chair seating?

    (4)
  • Mike O.

The Wigatoni is amazing. The pizza is too thick and greasy, but for some reason it's popular

The pizza is not that good, and the decor tries to be British but just doesn't quite finish the job.

Wig and Pen has by far the best pizza in town. The atmosphere is second to none. A must-try establishment!

The service here has usually been less than phenomenal but I never go in expecting it to be a fancy restaurant. What I do go in expecting is fantastic pizza and I have yet to be disappointed with that. Decent beer selection always helps with a pizza place and if you've never had their flying tomato you owe it to yourself to give it a shot.

The WIg & Pen is re-opened after the flood, finally. I must say, this is consistently the BEST pizza in the Iowa City area. Thin crust to Chicago style, they are all worth the extra $$$, seriously it is NOT Digiornos. Service has been pretty good traditionally, and now remodeled the interior, only slightly The pizza is better than ever and came out faster than I remember. It is good to have them back open again.

The best Chicago style pizza in Iowa. When I went to school at Iowa and my girlfriend and I had a craving for Lou Malnati's, we ordered from Wig and Pen.

one of the better pizza places in the CR/IC area. as mentioned, the service can be really slow during busy hours, but it's worth it. the "flying tomato, as mentioned, is simply amazing. even reheated 3 days later it's still outstanding. very relaxed "feel" to the place and a nice selection of brew at the bar. doesn't beat out tomaso's for best pizza around, but certainly worthy of a visit for the "tomato" alone.

Red phone booth outside, standard-issue British pub tchotchke all up on the walls inside, along with a modest selection of imports on tap and a few more bottles. The service was very pleasant, prompt and friendly. It seemed they were all laid back, but not in a lazy inattentive way. The atmosphere was comfortable, and the booth we sat at had a copper top to it, kind of neat. We had Guinness to drink, along with some chicken wings and the small portion of the Wigatoni, named the Minitoni. My wife's chicken wings were not spicy-style buffalo wings, but perfectly crispy breaded wings. They were delicious. The Minitoni pasta dish I ordered made a point of noting that it consisted of rigatoni and mostaccioli , which made no difference to me, because it had a nice tomato sauce, spicy italian sausage, and way too much mozzarella baked in a medium-sized bowl. I'm glad I ordered the smaller portion, because, along with the excellent garlic bread, it was more than enough to eat. We would definitely go there again. My next selection on the menu would be to try the Chicago style pizza, to see how it stacks up to Geno's.

Yum! I have only been here once, and had the wigatoni (it was one of those names that is kind of embarrassing to order...). It was sooo tasty! Yum. I had the lunch portion. It was nice and bubbly and super hearty. The service was good, place was clean.

Wig and Pen has some of the best pizza in the country, let alone Iowa. The Wig and Pen East is set to re-open this weekend after being completely ravaged by the floods of 2008. If you haven't been here before, GO! Its a Hawkeye hangout, too.

There's a reason this place won Best Pizza in Iowa. But there's much more to write home about then their delicious pies. Wigatoni, anyone? Get it spicy, you'll thank me later. Local establishment and a great place to watch Hawkeye games or to celebrate at afterwards.

There's a reason this place won Best Pizza in Iowa. But there's much more to write home about then their delicious pies. Wigatoni, anyone? Get it spicy, you'll thank me later. Local establishment and a great place to watch Hawkeye games or to celebrate at afterwards.

Best deep dish option in the Iowa City area. Thin crust is good and cheesy with good ingredients. Best pizza in the area bar none.

Wig and Pen has some of the best pizza in the country, let alone Iowa. The Wig and Pen East is set to re-open this weekend after being completely ravaged by the floods of 2008. If you haven't been here before, GO! Its a Hawkeye hangout, too.

Deep Chicago style with a chunky tomato sauch on top. It's a real pizza pie. If you like Tomaso's or Zoey's in Cedar Rapids, then you'll like Wig and pen.

Yum! I have only been here once, and had the wigatoni (it was one of those names that is kind of embarrassing to order...). It was sooo tasty! Yum. I had the lunch portion. It was nice and bubbly and super hearty. The service was good, place was clean.
